Sofia Apartments in Escalante, San Jose

Ned took care of everything, from airport pickup to getting our bags into the room. The apartment was secure and well equipped: the kitchen had cookware, knives, a coffee pot, wine openers and extra towels, while the bathroom had a hair dryer and the usual accessories. Our two-bedroom place also had distinctive original artwork that captured Costa Rica's heart. Ned pointed us to his favorite breakfast spot just twenty steps away. We ate there every morning and had lunch there twice. The food was good and affordable, and the staff were friendly. We also walked to a nearby grocery store and cooked at the property. There's an intensive language school across the street, so the apartment could work well for someone attending classes. Restaurants and bars with a lively, mostly young crowd were two streets away at night. Museums were within walking distance, about 1.5 miles or so. We first chose the place because it was affordable and looked like a good buy.

A roomy apartment with the essentials for a family of four, in a neighborhood that felt safe. Restaurants, casual breakfast places, and shopping for a range of budgets are all an easy walk away. The city's historic attractions are close too, including museums, monuments, and the well-known streets.

The location worked well for reaching restaurants, museums, markets, and pharmacies on foot. The rooms were clean, and the air conditioning was very welcome. The owner was also a big help arranging our airport pickup.

The apartment had lots of space, with a good bed, great wifi, and a roomy bathroom and kitchen. I felt comfortable there for the whole week. Having so many restaurants nearby was great. Thanks for a lovely stay!
