The hotel restaurant had excellent food and drinks, and the whole place felt calm and welcoming. The staff were extremely polite and friendly. We came to Costa Rica to explore, and this spot just outside of San Jose worked perfectly. Our room had an excellent view, and its distinctive architecture and style made the stay feel special. The hotel looked stunning when we arrived, and the gates are closed and locked at night, which made us feel safe.

The people really bring this place to life. Mr. Alex, David (Front Desk), and Jairol (Bar and Restaurant) made us feel like VIP, and the hotel wouldn’t have the same spirit without them. There’s no mini fridge or single-cup coffee maker in the room, which nudges you to enjoy the property, try the menu, or head out for local food. We loved sitting on the balcony with complimentary house coffee and watching the sunsets. The old-fashioned details are part of the charm, from the regular metal keys to the arch-shaped wooden room entries, alongside modern features like WiFi. It feels full of history and life. The corridors catch cool breezes, and the sunlight warms all the cozy corners in a way that’s hard to appreciate in photos. I wasn’t expecting such a visual feast when I walked into the lobby. It’s a romantic, peaceful spot for relaxing, reflecting, and taking photos. A heated jet tub would make it even better. We’d stop here again if we returned to San Jose.

We stayed one night in August 2023 as a family of four. We got up very early because of jet lag and swam in the pool, then had a really good breakfast. I’d gladly stay again.

We’ve celebrated special occasions here several times over the years, and sometimes come just for a meal even when we’re not staying overnight. The boutique hotel has a fantastic atmosphere, an excellent team, and outstanding food at the restaurant. We love it. Highly recommend, it’s a favorite!

The service made our honeymoon at Alta Las Palomas especially memorable. We arrived late and were welcomed warmly with fresh pineapple juice. Jorge brightened our mornings at breakfast, and Jairol made sure we had a great table with a stunning view for dinner each night. He even made fresh fruit smoothies when I didn’t want an alcoholic drink. Marlene at the front desk kindly gave me medicine from her own purse when I felt sick on our last night. Everyone was so friendly and thoughtful. The room was cozy, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the food was fantastic, and the coffee was some of the best we’ve had. We also loved relaxing by the pool. There’s a wonderful animal sanctuary within walking distance, with great guided tours. We can’t recommend the place enough for the views and service.
