Holiday Inn Express San Jose Forum by IHG

Costa Rica is an expensive place, so I was glad to find a good-quality Holiday Inn in SJ, CR where I could relax for a few days. The breakfast was generous, and the small fitness room did what I needed. Gama and the rest of the staff were helpful and quick to respond.

This was my second stay, and they recognized and greeted me right away. I brought my wife and Teacup Chihuahua this time, and there was no pet deposit, which I loved. My one issue was the internet: it’s fast enough for watching movies on your phone, but I needed strong upload speeds for Twitch and Tiktok, and my room was too far from a router. They moved me to a room that fixed it, so my show went ahead on schedule. Mgr Renaldo gets things done, and the hotel staff are so kind and ready to help. There are plenty of places to walk to for food, groceries, and entertainment. I’d recommend staying here. I just wish the pool were heated or there was a hot tub, but that’s okay.

The room had a comfortable bed, working AC/fan, good light blocking, and a spacious shower with a rain showerhead. Soap, schampoo, lotion, and a coffee maker were provided. Breakfast was great when included, with both hot and cold options. There’s a cute pool with cooling water and a good gym. For a one-night stay, it’s a great Express option, with lots of restaurants nearby, street parking right in front, and a shuttle to/from the airport.

I felt safe walking alone to nearby shops and restaurants, and even made the mile walk to the hospital each day to see my mom. I’d flown in unexpectedly because she had a medical emergency while visiting. The hotel was extremely clean, with spotless rooms and good AC, better than many Holiday Inns I’ve stayed at in the U.S. I don’t speak Spanish, but many staff members did and were friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning was clean and tasty, and the computers I used for work were better than the ones in my home office. I highly recommend it.
