La Catalina Hotel and Suites

I only got a room like the website photos on the last day of my expensive stay, after being bitten and pushing back and forth to get moved. Before that, they offered to clean the beds I kept getting bitten in. The first room was dirty, with chipped-looking floors and years of dust on everything. The washcloths were dirty too, and there were gnats and strange flying bugs even though I never opened the window. It was much smaller than the pictures and had no cable, just about five TV channels, all in Spanish. There was no microwave anywhere, and the WiFi included in the resort fee only worked outside the hotel. I chose this place for a 21st birthday trip after my mom let me pick the room. I read the reviews carefully because cleanliness mattered most, and liked the rooms and the hotel's exterior. What was advertised turned out to be false. When I asked why the room looked different, they said it was the same room type, the building was old, they were working on the rooms, and I had been given one that hadn't been updated. That's not my problem. I booked and paid for what was shown, and nobody told me I might get a room that didn't match. They even made switching a hassle. False advertising should be illegal, especially without proper compensation. Please make sure they don't charge you for something you didn't ask for. I called ahead to say I was coming, and they said, “we have room’s available,” as if my room hadn't been set aside. At check-in, I had a bad feeling when a guy complaining as a “regular” was pushed aside and told to report it. Not right at all.
