Hotel Bell Bird

The people and service were wonderful. The restaurant serves typical Costa Rican home cooking, and it was absolutely delicious.

I’ve been staying here for six weeks while attending CPI language school, and I still find The Bell Bird magical. It’s hard to explain how unique the place feels. The rooms are reasonably priced, everything is spotless, and the owners and staff treat you like family. The location is central for Monte Verde’s beautiful attractions. My room was quiet, cozy, and comfortable, and breakfast each morning was gorgeous. The WiFi is terrific too. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Big hostel feel, and hostel prices, with a lovely sunset viewpoint right across the street and an excellent breakfast. The owner had lost our reservation but still managed to fit us in. We only got one set of keys for our four-person room, which was a hassle if we split up because the building door has to be locked from outside.

A quaint, simple, inexpensive little hotel, run well by lovely owners. The food was good: hot coffee, French toast, eggs, pancakes, nothing fancy. There’s tour information and a ping pong table, too. Most buildings in Costa Rica are handmade, and it was interesting to see the craftsmanship, like the beautiful woodwork, that we tend to take for granted in the US.
