Hotel la Puesta del Sol

The room was spacious, the hotel was clean, and it’s well placed for visiting many of Monteverde’s attractions. It was also very quiet at night, with no town noise, though Monteverde and Santa Elena are generally pretty quiet. Breakfast was simple, just toast, eggs, pineapple, bananas, and coffee, but it was free and suited us. The price offered a lot of value, and I almost don’t want more people to find this place. I’ll definitely stay again. Freddy, who I think was the owner, was quiet but very friendly. He runs tours too. We didn’t book one, so I can’t speak to them, though his personality makes me think they’d be great. We often saw him, and I think his wife, though I’m not sure, cleaning. They do a great job running the hotel.

Freddy was wonderful. He welcomed us and quickly arranged a shuttle for our return to Liberia. The room was large and clean, breakfast was good, and the location was great, less than a 10-minute walk from the center. A great Monteverde experience.

The place was super clean and comfortable, and the service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and accommodating, especially Fred, who was an amazing host. Liam, the dog, is a sweetheart. We’ll definitely return from Ontario, Canada.

Freddy is a very good host. His hotel is clean and good value for the price. You could consider booking his birdwatching tour. At 35 dollars per person it’s quite expensive, but Freddy is an expert and his effort should make it fun.
