Villa Morella

Evelyn was so kind and helpful, and all four of us had a lovely stay. The place was very clean and in a convenient spot. We also enjoyed the beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Nicoya. We'd happily stay here again.

For the price, this clean little cottage is a great option. The host is friendly and made us eggs and toast for breakfast. It's a bit more earthy and local than some of the area's hotels and resorts, but it has a kitchenette, flat screen, and nice views when the air is clear. There were cats, dogs, and even chickens next door, so you might get an early wake-up. You can walk to nearby places to eat, or take a short drive into town for restaurants, an ATM, gas, activity bookings, gift shops, and several supermarkets and smaller stores. The Monteverde cloud forest is there to explore too, with hikes to help walk off the pounds.

The location was okay, but the cleanliness was only so-so. Most of the fresh towels had stains, and the washing-up sponge was really grimy. We usually had warm water for showers. There's not much English spoken. Oil, salt, and pepper were provided. The bedroom door opens to another apartment, though it was locked and had a padlock on it.
