Vista Verde Lodge

The family who hosted us were lovely, the homemade food was great, and the rooms were clean. It's in a beautiful spot with an amazing view, close to a peaceful, clean waterfall. An 11 out of 10 all around. If you're ever in Monteverde, you should book at least one night here.

We watched the sun rise over the Arénal Volcan and lake right from our bed, and there was even a waterfall we had to ourselves. Maybe the family dog will show you the way there! The host and family were super friendly and welcoming, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Easily our best stay in Costa Rica. Thank you!

The family who run this lodge were one of the best parts of our stay. The food was great, the rooms were comfortable, and the views were beautiful. The rooms can get damp, though. It's a lovely fit if you're looking for nature and a taste of rural life.

We woke to a sunrise over the volcano, with Pelosa and Killer there for cuddles. They'd followed us to our room the night before and waited outside. I'll never forget it. The family who owns and runs the lodge made us feel at home, including their little girl, who was playing outside and showed us how to help a hummingbird recover. She picked one up from the ground, gave it water, and it flew away feeling better. She was five years old. From your room, it's a 15-minute walk through the cloud forest to a waterfall. The breakfast was great too, especially the banana pancake and coffee. The place is magical and immersed in nature, with simplicity at its heart. You can tell from the map it's far out of town and away from the shiny signs. The final 10 km aren't paved, so a 4x4 is better. The rooms and dining room are very simple and minimalistic, but you don't need luxury here. Thank you for staying so pure and authentic.
