Pacuare Lodge by Böëna

The cabins are rustic, but clean, and we loved feeling immersed in nature. The staff were wonderful, and the food was good. Stephen had great stories and led an excellent hike to a waterfall. Our rafting guide, Riley, had recently come to Costa Rica from Colorado and made the trip fun with her enthusiasm and positive spirit. We also enjoyed spending time with the other guests over meals and on the rafts. Our family loved staying here.

Two nights was the right amount of time for us. The cabins were comfortable, and the lodge grounds were beautiful and peaceful. My wife and I could have stayed longer, and all three kids had a great time too. The river is stunning and a lot of fun to raft. Johanna was great to work with, and our whole family loved having Fernando as our guide. He’s the most skilled river guide we’ve ever rafted with, very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to. He kept looking for ways to make the trip better, from offering extra hikes to preparing incredible meals. We’re so grateful to him. We can’t recommend rafting with this company enough. It was an unforgettable experience.

The accommodation felt like paradise, with a view over the river, and having no electricity made the stay feel especially different. We had an amazing two-day experience with our wonderful guide José Luis. Highly recommended.

The lodge was a lovely place to unwind after a great two-day, one-night rafting trip. Our room was comfortable, with pretty river views, and we were glad we paid a little extra for our own bathroom. The meals were good, and we liked relaxing in the open-air common area in the evening. We also got attached to the sweet lodge dog, "Pendejo". The name really doesn't fit him. On the river, Fernando made the trip fun and we felt safe with him guiding us. A kayaker came along on the second day to take photos and help with safety if needed, which was reassuring, though thankfully nobody fell out. The owners were lovely, and Johanna was especially helpful and quick to reply on WhatsApp. The photos arrived by email a week later and turned out great. We'd highly recommend them!
