Hacienda Sassenberg

I loved the quiet, remote setting and all the nature around the Hazienda. Heiko and Yasmin even picked me up when I landed in Costa Rica at 9pm, which was a great start. The next morning, breakfast helped break the ice, and the trip just kept getting better. I was there in rainy season, but we still found chances to go trail riding. Check with Heiko first, since you should be intermediate or advanced. When it rained, they showed me around local spots. I left a piece of my heart there. If you want hustle and bustle, this may only be four stars for you. But for good food, nice people, and a chance to learn, it’s the place.

The rooms were spacious, modern, and very well kept. There’s no TV, so you can spend time with family or sit outside and take in the views. The property is high in the hills above Miramar and feels off the beaten track, but it’s really well maintained. Heiko was a superb host, and we had probably the best breakfast of our Costa Rica trip. There are lots of animals too. Our kids fell in love with the friendliest dogs, and the Parrot has a great laugh.

We felt like we were staying in the clouds. The small house was really nice, and breakfast was delicious. There were lots of dogs and birds, and the hosts were so nice. I’ll be back.

A magical trip in a beautiful area. I felt totally pampered, and the horses and hosts were great. Best money I’ve ever spent.
