We booked five days but lasted about 15 hours before demanding a refund. We found an air B&B at roughly the same price, with a full apartment and kitchen. Please save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else. I’m writing this many years later and still remember how bad it was. The shower had barely any water, and what came out was cold. There were bugs in the room, and it may have been the loudest place I’ve ever stayed. People were in the main area next to the rooms all night, getting drunk and blasting music. In the morning, the hostel manager was passed out on a couch, apparently still drunk from the night before. If your whole trip is about getting as drunk as possible and sleeping in filth, maybe this would suit you. I was trying to surf and enjoy myself. Maybe things have changed since then, but from the reviews and pictures, I suspect not.

It was my first time at a hostel. The rooms were nice and had air conditioning, though the bathrooms inside our room weren’t working because of construction. The rooftop area was really cool, with lots of space for everyone to hang out. I’d definitely recommend it for a night or a longer stay.

The receptionist knew the area really well, and check-in was simple. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It’s a place I’d happily recommend, whether you’re traveling alone, as a couple, with friends, or with family.

I’d seen mixed reviews, so I asked to look at the room first. It seemed fine, and I stayed the night. The location is handy, right in the middle of Tamarindo, and the bed was comfortable. The shower was cold, though. I lowered the rating after finding a few little friends...

The staff were friendly and really helpful. One woman even called a couple of places and helped us book somewhere for our stay in La Fortuna. You can get to the beach quickly, and the hotel is right in the middle of town. It was very loud from the club music, so if you’re hoping to sleep early, this probably isn’t the place. We didn’t mind. Odd little bonus: I counted ten outlets in our room, including one on the ceiling. Weird, but useful.
