Hotel Carlota Tamarindo

We weren’t even customers, but our route was blocked by heavy rain and we couldn’t get to our destination. We stopped at hotel Carlotta, which looked cozy, clean, and lovely, and gave us the impression of a professionally run place. The owner didn’t hesitate to help. This wonderful woman got in her squad vehicle and guided us for at least 30 minutes along small roads and even through a river. We never would have found that hidden route on our own, and we wouldn’t have dared to drive our rental car through the river. We’re so grateful to her for all that help!

The owners were welcoming and friendly, and the rooms were clean, nicely decorated, and had refrigerators. There’s an outdoor kitchen with a grill if you want to cook, plus a pool. It’s reasonably priced, with restaurants and beaches not too far away. I’d highly recommend staying here.

Skip this place. It was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There’s no warm water in the room, and when we raised it with the owner, he asked why we hadn’t showered at the beach. We got no amenities or hangers, just two tiny bars of soap. It’s in the middle of nowhere, five kilometres from the beach, with only two supermarkets nearby. There’s no breakfast either. We were told to go get a cheap one at the supermarket. Charging US$125 a night for this is a joke.

The staff were so kind and respectful, and clearly proud of their casa. ¡Qué linda casa! Muchas gracias a toda la gente que trabaja allí. The little rooms are comfortable and can sleep four. Everything feels brand new and very clean, including the nice bathrooms with showers. There’s AC, TV, Wi-Fi, an outdoor pool, a terrace, and parking for each room.
