We had a great stay at Miss Junies. Everything, including the rooms and pool, was clean and well kept. Victor checked us in and was always ready to help. I hadn't expected A/C, but sleeping with it on was really nice. Breakfast was included and great. The location is ideal: the back gate opens onto the beach, and the side gate takes you into the village near all the restaurants. They can arrange activities too. Our guide, Cloyde, grew up there and speaks great English.

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I went on a tour with Cloide. He's one of the original families in Tortuguero and knows so much about the area's nature, plants, birds, insects, and animals. I'd recommend Cloide for tours without hesitation.

A lovely rustic lodge between the river and ocean, with lots of wildlife and a nice pool.

The staff were incredibly friendly and patient, and went out of their way to help us. We also ate well, enjoying both the included breakfast and the dinner we paid for. The hotel sits between the river and ocean, with a lovely pool in its spacious yard. Our room was clean and the AC was a welcome relief, though it felt a bit dated.

The town of Tortuguero is busy and touristy, but Miss Junies Lodge felt like a peaceful garden tucked among the trees right on the riverbank. We had two quiet nights, and the breakfasts were made with care and changed each morning. We'd definitely recommend staying here. ;-)
