The dinners were unexpectedly original and tasty, especially for us as vegetarians. We even had a romantic dinner by flashlight when the power went out. Casa Yamicel is conveniently near the city center and Viazul bus station, and the breakfast was the best we'd had so far in Cuba.
Casa Yamicel was one of my favorite places we stayed in Cuba. Yamicel is warm, kind, friendly, and always ready to help. The food at the house was delicious, from breakfast and dinner to the fabulous mojitos. We also had an incredible day out with Alexei, a wonderful tour guide. We visited Lisbeth's cacao farm, rowed boats along a river between beautiful cliffs, swam in a natural pool, and walked and swam at the beach, where we had lobster for dinner. I was there with five friends in November 2022, and the whole trip was spectacular. A note separate from Casa Yamicel: Cuba has major shortages, so please bring things like over-the-counter medicine, toiletries, pens, or extra clothes if you can. I brought a few items to give away, but wish I'd packed a lot more.
The house is beautifully kept and right in the center, with a lovely terrace where they serve a generous breakfast. We had a great time at Casa Yamicel. Give their cocktails a try, they're exceptional!
