Hotel Playa Paraso

A week here suited us well. It’s not too big, and everything is close by. The pool was very clean, and the rooms were clean too. Towels were changed when we asked. There was plenty to choose from at both the buffet and snack bar. Thanks to Noe and Betty for such lovely buffet service, and to all the other servers as well.

We had lots to eat, plenty of hot water, and electricity. If your room isn’t clean, ask to be moved. For the beach, Memories Flaminco next door is better. Playa Parisio has lots of coral and shells, so bring water shoes.

This was my second stay at this hotel, and I’d choose it again in Cuba. The beach is spectacular, the rooms are very clean, and service requests are handled quickly and professionally. The staff go out of their way for guests. Food selection is limited, though, and that’s not something the staff can fix. A special thanks to Oscar, the DJ who kept things lively; Yamiana in customer service, who checked in on us often; Yuliet, who handled entertainment with such care; and Yurisleidy at the lobby bar for her warm, professional service. Annelys in customer service made sure guests had what they needed every day, and Lesyani looked after us so professionally and courteously at breakfast and lunch. Thanks to the staff and management for a pleasant stay.

We’re already looking forward to coming back next January. This was our first visit to Cayo Coco, though we often go to Holguin. The airport bus took only 15 minutes. We got in at noon but our room wasn’t ready until 4pm. That was fine, our bags were stored and we relaxed at the bar. The bellman brought them over by cart later, and Disnay, our Chamberman, was phenomenal. The room was always clean and had toilet paper and bottled water. The food was by far the best I’ve had in Cuba. There was fresh bread and pastries, fish and meat grilled fresh, and those chicken wings were amazing and available every day. Alongside the usual island fruit, they had blueberries, raspberries, and berry mixes for crepes, puddings, and desserts. You could grab a drink or pizza on the way to the beach, then have battered fish and chips and more cocktails there. With so many food and drink choices, there were no lines. We didn’t feel a need to book the a la cartes because the buffet food was excellent. The entertainment team ran pool activities during the day and shows at night. The MJ show was one you don’t want to miss. George, our daily bartender, kept our cups full. My one complaint is that there wasn’t really a place in the evening to sit and talk together. Music in the lobby and stage activities were happening at the same time, and you could usually hear both.
