The restaurant is a nice spot, and the chef often comes out to ask if everything’s okay. I especially liked the gorgeous corner suite facing the park. The staff have always been friendly and accommodating, and I’ve stayed here many times since it opened. A couple of small things have bothered me. Early check-in costs $50usd, which is tough when flights into Holguin often arrive early. Other Holguin hotels, especially the beach hotels, don’t charge that fee. The bar prices also seem to vary: a beer was 150 cuban pesos one day and 300 the next. There have been power cuts too, though those were resolved with the gas power plant. Some of these issues may be related to the situation in Cuba. Still, it’s a very nice hotel with wonderful staff.

I finally got to stay at the Saratoga by chance, after the Holguin hotel I’d booked was apparently overbooked and its guests were moved here. Check-in was easy, and the staff were fairly friendly, though nobody helped with luggage up the three flights of stairs. The location is central and convenient. Parking is scarce, with just a couple of small spaces out front that are usually taken. I parked at the nearby park without any problem. The room had high ceilings and decent wooden furniture. The bed was okay, and the AC got cold but took a while to cool the room. The TV was surprisingly good. The bathroom was basic, and there was no hot water either on the evening I arrived or the next morning. That was disappointing. For the price and amenities, I wouldn’t go back. It seemed nearly empty when I went to check it out later, but they weren’t accepting guests. I tried to book and kept getting no availability. Almost nobody seemed to be there, yet no rooms were available. I guess they don’t want any guests.

The hotel has been fully renovated and is extremely clean, with a good location and very friendly service. I really can’t find anything bad to say about it.

I only stopped in for a beer. They were good to a tourist who doesn’t speak Spanish, with lots of smiles and thank-yous.

I stopped by for coffee with a friend and thought the place was amazing. The service was super nice, and it had such a Cuban feel. I’ll definitely stay there next time.
