The balcony terrace looking out over Mindelo was such a lovely spot. Vannilla sits uphill, about a 10-minute walk from the centre; walking down is easy, and a taxi back costs just over a euro. Our en-suite room was huge, with a very big bathroom and a door straight onto the terrace. It was clean, nicely decorated, and very reasonably priced for Mindelo. We also used the guesthouse kitchen one evening when we were too tired to go out for food. Katie made us feel welcome, and I’d happily recommend Vannilla to anyone staying in Mindelo.

Our room looked out over the port and the city below, and the price was great for what we got. The host was wonderful and went out of her way to help us whenever she could. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in Mindelo.

Katy was the best host we’ve had in a long time, warm, fun, and always up for helping or chatting. She even helped with our carnaval costumes, and made amazing homemade breakfast. The place has a great view and is good value, too. She’d only opened it a few months earlier and was still making improvements, with scooter rental and other small upgrades expected soon. Really recommend it.

The location works pretty well, though it’s a little uphill. The room was comfortable, breakfast was included, and we got a warm welcome from a very kind host. The balcony view was especially nice.

The beach is about a 10-minute walk away, and the balcony has a beautiful view. Breakfast was great, too.
