Pendora Apartments

We left a day early because the place was ruining our vacation, but they wouldn't refund the final night. There are better places to stay in Mindelo. The room was dirty, and the pans, pots, glasses, dishcloths, and scouring pads were all greasy or filthy. After we complained, they offered a somewhat cleaner room, but it had no air conditioning or sea view, despite those being what we'd paid for. There was no hot water for our last two days, and nobody at reception in the afternoons to raise it with. The rooms don't have the advertised terrace and aren't on the beach. Getting there means a treacherous ten-minute walk from the beach.

The apartments are quiet and have everything you need: good beds, air conditioning, a full kitchen, and a great bathroom with hot water. The views are amazing, and the price is very low. It's a good location, about a ten-minute walk from the beach. No washing machine, which is the one downside I can think of, but they do offer laundry service.

I lived at Pendora for many months, and the view over Mindelo is the best! It's peaceful, clean, comfortable, and feels like home. There's always hot water and the Wi-Fi works well. The rooms suit one or two people, but with children you'd miss a nursery or a child's bed. There's a restaurant in the building, though it's not a buffet. You can only rent the space for an event, and it has a kitchen, bar, and spacious veranda. It worked for a birthday party or a small concert.

The bay view is one of a kind, and the apartments have great Wi-Fi and water pressure. The service needs work, though. Our kitchen wasn't properly clean, and it had none of the basic cooking equipment until we asked for it. Check in advance that everything you need is there. There's no oil, spices, cleaning supplies, or hand soap either, and the apartment isn't cleaned during your stay. Since you have to bring everything yourself, I'd only recommend staying here for a longer visit.
