The breakfasts were delicious, with local goat cheese, papaya and other fruit, homemade cinnamon rolls, mango and hibiscus juices, cereal, eggs and cakes. Everything was well washed, and we never got sick. The papaya confiture was especially good. They also helped us arrange excursions around the island. The building is historic and has such a special feel that people staying at other hotels come on excursions to see it. It’s very photogenic, too. The place felt safe and provided cleaning and bath towels. Good local places to eat are about five minutes away, and they give you addresses. Everything is really fresh. We recommend Blue Marlin and Esplanada café right in front of Blu Marlin. We stayed a week and I can only recommend it.
Along with Puru Spiritu Kabuverdeanu, which has the same ownership and is up the street, this place is a rare showcase of authentic local products and Capeverdean culture. It offers great hospitality and is a must-stop in Sal Rei for that reason too.
A very quiet spot for a drink, with a really nice bar and courtyard and lovely decor.
I stopped by the café. It’s a typical guest house, beautifully decorated, and the food was nice!
We only popped in during the Sal Rei tour. It’s a nice place and would suit backpackers on a budget.
