The Casa itself has a lovely, peaceful feel, and the host is kind and ready to help with whatever you need. The area around it isn't as beautiful as northern Santa Antao, and English is limited, but we still found it a calm place to unwind.

Set right by the ocean, this was an unusual place to stay. The staff were friendly, and the food was decent, though the menu didn't offer much choice. It's quite remote, so we relied on a hired driver for outings. I believe the owners are French; they have lived on the island and been expanding the facilities over the last decade.

It's a nice place to stay, but you'll pretty much need French to get by. It's also resort-like and too far from town to walk in.

The owner was incredibly nice, and the resort has been refurbished beautifully. One downside is that rubbish is burned at night, either by the authorities or locals. When the wind comes down from the hill, the smell can reach the place.
