The sea views from the balcony are amazing, and the hotel sits right on the water. Sadly, that's about the only good thing I can say. Staff seemed mostly annoyed when we arrived and weren't very helpful. I had to ask several times before they accepted that the WiFi really wasn't working and fixed it. I speak four languages, but I seemed to be the only one making an effort to communicate. It felt like you need Creole or perfect Portuguese to stay here. The showers were a major problem. The water was cold, and barely any came out, which was awful after a strenuous day of hiking. Getting away is hard too: traffic to Janela is scarce and mostly lines up with ferry times. It's much easier to find an Aluger in Paul or Ribera Grande, so whatever you save on the room can quickly go on taxis. We didn't try the food, and breakfast wasn't included. The hotel is right on the road, with only a shop and the restaurant in the same building, so choices are limited. Not a great experience unless you have your own car and really value a cheap stay.

We enjoyed the good food and the striking sea view. The hotel is very clean and new, and the waves crash just 20 meters away.

The room had a lovely balcony, and the bathroom was very good by Cape Verde standards. The dinner and breakfast, though, were honestly pretty bad.

A comfortable place, great for relaxing and unwinding from stress and tiredness.
