Curacao Marriott Beach Resort

We spent seven nights at this beautiful, quiet, clean resort and had a wonderful vacation. The staff were consistently helpful and great, and we booked a few tours too. Our room on the fourth floor was quite large, with a great big bathroom. We both enjoyed the $30 USD breakfast buffet. Willemstad is nearby, about a $20 USD taxi ride. I only wish there were a Starbucks and Pandora downstairs, though the mall was close.

For our quick three-day, two-night getaway, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, the food around the resort was excellent, and the whole property felt clean and well cared for. We were impressed by the hospitality from the start. A handwritten note and a delicious welcome dessert were waiting for us when we arrived. We’d forgotten our power converter, so I called the front desk to ask if they might have one. Within 15 minutes, they brought four converters to our room so we could charge all our devices. That kind of attention made the stay feel special. We had a great time and will absolutely be back. Thanks to everyone on staff!

We changed our plans at the last minute after the pool at our original place in Willemstad closed, and spent our anniversary at the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort instead. Its lovely oceanfront and two large pools never felt crowded, and the beach was excellent. The tradeoff is being farther from Willemstad, around USD 20 by taxi. Our limited-view room was modern and well kept, though pricey for the lack of a view. The food was delicious but expensive. Staff were professional and dealt with our questions and concerns efficiently. No regrets about staying here, though next time we’d love to be closer to downtown.

The coconuts they served one day were a treat, and I loved seeing the iguanas and birds around the property. They were the soul of the hotel. The views are beautiful and the place has potential, but for the price I expected much more. The pool looks attractive, though its steps are hard to distinguish from the flat bottom when you’re swimming. My grandmother injured her foot there. The handrail stops before the steps begin, so better markings or a longer rail would help. Staff also closed the umbrellas around 6 PM even when guests were still using the pool area, which felt like it was for their convenience. The beach was decent, but rocky in quite a few places. We eventually found a better, less rocky section. There wasn’t much entertainment or atmosphere during most of our stay. The couple of times live entertainment was on, we enjoyed it, but otherwise the property felt quiet and a bit boring. Service was underwhelming throughout. At arrival there was no smile or warm welcome, just “I need a minute” instead of even a simple “Welcome to Curaçao.” Staff often seemed uninterested and inattentive. The food was also mediocre and forgettable for the cost. Many menu items were more expensive than what I usually pay in NY, without the quality to match. The rooms looked old and run down, and the hotel’s photos don’t show what it really looks like. The lack of hospitality, uneven service, food, pool safety issue, and limited entertainment made this a disappointing stay.
