Kkaras Hotel

Kkaras hotel was the worst hotel I’ve visited, though I can see why it was so cheap. One upside was that you could have a drink by the pool. Breakfast was good, but the staff didn’t speak English at all and didn’t understand “milk.” The owner was cheerful, but the workers seemed angry. A staff member slept on the reception couch all day, even in daytime, and I wondered if he lived there. The advertised bar wasn’t operating and they didn’t sell drinks. You had to pay extra for a safe, fridge and air conditioning. Paying for the fridge made little sense since the room had to be occupied for it to have power. The cleaning lady left broken glass under the bed and didn’t clean properly. Things may have changed, as I was there in 2017.

The location was good, close to the beach and local restaurants, and the room service was very nice. But my friend and I spent almost two weeks there and found the rest of the staff rude and unhelpful. Nobody smiled, and we felt very unwelcome. We were shocked that someone could open our room at any time. Someone came in during the night, and when we complained, the man at reception said it was nothing to complain about. We were told we could take our money or phone to the beach if we wanted to keep them safe. On our departure day, we asked to leave our luggage at reception because check-out was at 12 and our flight was at 21:30. They said we couldn’t. Breakfast was the same each day: a slice of ham and cheese, toast and an egg that was green inside. We’d never experienced anything like it.

People have a low-grade, party-place reputation for this place, but I found it pretty decent while we were there. Everyone was nice and generous, the staff gave us lots of free drinks, the Cyprus food was great, and there was free Wi-Fi and good music. My girlfriend and I are really happy here. Ask Sorih for free drinks ;-)

There were lots of ants in the rooms, and the service was bad. The owner was cocky. Air conditioning was included, but they controlled it and kept it on “save mode” at 25 Celsius. The only thing they washed was the towels.
