Nestor Hotel

The breakfast was disappointing: the selection wasn't extensive and was exactly the same each day. It wasn't especially tasty either. The buffet was cleared at 10 a.m. sharp, so there was no chance to get anything afterwards, and staff regularly took plates away while we were still eating, sometimes without asking first. Our last visit was two years ago, and the hotel has gone downhill since then. Staff were less attentive and accommodating than you'd expect. We had requested a slightly larger room for three adults, but got one double bed and a bunk bed in a room that was far too small. When we asked about another option, we were told the hotel was full and nothing else was available. Despite the excellent location, I can't recommend Nestor Hotel the way I once could. I won't consider it for my next stay in Ayia Napa.

There was a really bad drain smell coming into the room. We were in room 424 beside the lift, and it was very noisy. People stood outside chatting loudly, with guests checking in and out at all hours. If you get that room, ask to move.

The pool area may be Nestor Hotel's best feature, with built-in jacuzzies, floating decks, sunbeds and umbrellas. There was a different dinner buffet each night, with several meat and fish dishes, and the staff were around and helpful without hovering. The hotel also gets a significant share of its electricity from photovoltaic arrays on the roof, and suggests creative ways guests can take part in its sustainable practices. It's also in a very convenient spot, two blocks from the beach and right in the center of Ayia Napa, near traditional taverns and gourmet restaurants. For a four star property, Nestor Hotel kept exceeding our expectations and left us with good memories. We'd love to return.

The location was wonderful, and the rooms were clean and regularly maintained. Food had a great range of choices and was outstanding. The pool was clean and well looked after, too. The staff were very helpful. I had no bad experiences and will certainly come back. I'd highly recommend this excellent hotel.
