9 Muses Hotel

The family running 9 Muses boutique hotel were keen to help, and when we accidentally left our passports in the safe after checkout, they tried hard to reach us before we got to the airport. We were very grateful. Breakfast came to the table with plenty to choose from, including cereals, meats, cheese, madeira cake, orange juice, toast, and crèpes. Coffee kept coming, and they made eggs, omelettes, or a full English to order. Our room was one of the smaller ones, but comfortable, clean, well equipped, and had a good shower. All the rooms are on the first floor and have balconies. We were just a couple of streets from the beach, which meant less noise from traffic and people in the busiest part of town. There’s a café next door, and bars below and across the road, though they aren’t part of the hotel. Free parking is available in the multi-storey across the road; its ramps between floors are steep. A new shopping centre and the magnificent church of St Lazarus are also only a couple of streets away. The church sits in a town square with cafés and shops around it. We walked around town at all hours and felt safe. It was a fantastic stay, and I’d highly recommend this lovely little hotel.

The staff made us feel they genuinely cared about our stay. They were polite, helpful, flexible, and easy to speak with in English. We booked directly with the hotel because it was cheaper than the prices suggested through booking services. After our three-day stay, we realized we’d left a few things in the room, and the owner helped us get them back. The location is very convenient, near the beach and good restaurants and pubs. The rooms have attractive decor and a distinctive charm. It doesn’t feel like a typical large four-star hotel, which made the experience feel quite different.

The rooms were gorgeous and comfortable, and the staff were so attentive. It felt like a real five-star stay.

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was superb. We had a fabulous room in this lovely little boutique hotel. There was quite a bit of work happening on the local footpaths, but it didn’t spoil our stay. Once it’s finished, the area should be even better.
