Altius Boutique Hotel

The main draw is the location, and the rooms are a decent size, clean, and quiet. Service was good, and the breakfast was good value for money. Just keep in mind it’s a three-star hotel, so don’t expect too much, and don’t read “boutique” in the name as a promise of luxury. The staff were helpful and friendly, thanks!

The room was clean and fine, but its fridge didn’t work. Our friends’ fridge did, though it only stayed on while their room key was in the door. Breakfast was fine too. We chose the place because it was within walking distance of town and advertised a bar, hoping to spend the days out and have a couple of drinks with friends there before bed. The bar wasn’t actually there. Day staff were lovely, while the evening staff came across as abrupt. A bit disappointing, though we made the most of the weekend.

I booked and paid for a triple room, but was given a single with a bed so small it could barely fit a child. When I complained, management first said the downgrade was reasonable because I’d arrived alone, then changed the explanation and said my room had been given to another family. They offered a balcony as compensation, which didn’t make up for not honoring the booking. I asked several times for the manager to call me and still haven’t heard back. A real disappointment. The “luxury” here was the balcony, and the experience was the opposite of what I paid for.

It’s about what you’d expect from a 3 star, and very clean. The towels smell clean, but look like they’ve been around for a few years. I wish they’d use bleach on them.
