Baskent Pansiyon

Avoid this place. I stayed for one night, and everything was dirty. The blankets had cigarette burns, and the bathroom was filthy, with water from the toilet all over the floor. The reception staff only spoke Turkish and couldn’t help. Better to spend a little more and rent somewhere nicer.

We’d arrived by plane in the evening and just needed somewhere for the night, so my friends and I called the hostel. The owner was waiting because he was about to close and seemed nice at first. We weren’t expecting much, but after a strange conversation and seeing the rooms, we were shocked. There was only one person at the hostel, the lighting was uncomfortable, the sheets were dirty, there was no heating, and there was a strange smell everywhere. The corridors felt spooky, all for 15 € a night. We’d already paid and had no other option, so we stayed, then left early the next morning exhausted after a terrible night. I wouldn’t recommend staying there at all.

The owner and staff are welcoming and friendly, and the location is great, with easy access to everything. The facilities are old, though that may be common for hotels in Nicosia. For the price, it’s good, quiet, and felt secure, which I think matters most when travelling alone. I’d appreciate faster Wi-Fi and a quilt instead of the blanket.

Our Airbnb was cancelled, so we ended up here, and it was a really bad stay. The rooms were dirty and had no heating, and the whole pension felt creepy. The owner also seemed strange. If comfort isn't important to you, it might be manageable, but for the price this has been one of my worst experiences.
