The view earns the second star. For a nightly rate under 1,400, I expected at least a three-star standard, but the place felt much older than that. The bed springs were noticeable and the mattresses sagged a little. I’d guess the room hadn’t been unpacked or updated in over 20 years. The heavy carpet didn’t help; it reminded me of a similar room I slept in 24 years ago. The floors creaked and flexed underfoot, both on the way in past the rusty staircase and inside the room. The toilet and bathroom were across the hall. That arrangement alone wouldn’t be so bad, but the toilet had no suction, and the linoleum over the wooden floor creaked too. The shower door was so awkward to close you’d need to be an octopus, and the shower head wouldn’t stay on its holder, even though one was there. Last year I stayed in Šumava - Zadov, and I wouldn’t hesitate to give that place four stars or more. The whole guesthouse was flawless. At 1,500 a night, I got more than expected, including half board. If I need a guesthouse in Beroun again, I won’t choose this one.

It's a nice guesthouse, though the facilities are older. The shower and toilet are out in the hallway.

Our room was small, but it did the job. It was clean and cozy, with a kettle and fridge, and we could see the forest from the room. You can sit in the garden too. The accommodation is private and quiet, with a lovely view over all of Beroun, though getting up that hill is a climb.

The hostess was lovely, and breakfast was good. The rooms have a slightly retro feel and the view is beautiful. You can hear what you see, unfortunately, but the sealed windows make it manageable.
