Chateau Goldenstein

The setting is stunning, and I think the hotel is worth visiting for that alone. It seems to be a work in progress, since the castle had fallen into ruin and is now being brought back to life. We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious, clean, and very quiet.

This is an amazing spot, kept in good shape, with tidy rooms and friendly service. We hope it gets a big funding boost someday, and we'd like to come back. The work put into restoring it is easy to see, and staying here beats an ordinary hotel room. The rooms are cold, yes, but it's a castle. Breakfast was plenty to fill us up before the day, and we were surprised to see other guests because it had felt as if we were the only ones there. People saying breakfast is too small are probably American. I do wish there were more historical details about the place. The website's “about” section says very little, and we couldn't find anything online in Polish or English. Maybe signs in different spots could explain what it was built for and when, and give people something to imagine while encouraging them to leave more money. Thank you!

The room had a lovely view of the church and Fojtství. It was spacious and clean, with furniture that felt from another time. Breakfast hit the spot, especially the bacon and sunny-side-up eggs, and the coffee was good. If you need a place to stay near Branná, it's worth a try.
