Penzion u Machů

Be careful with the manager. We've been attending the Břeclav Festival for years and used to stay here regularly. Each time we left, we booked a room for the following year, then in March I would follow up and send a deposit. That worked until this year. When I followed up about the deposit, the manager emailed to say the whole guesthouse had been booked by one big party. It felt like an overpayment would get you a room even if someone had already booked, and the manager even laughed at me in the email, saying she hoped I found somewhere else, despite knowing Břeclav is fully booked then. Festival prices already rise by at least a quarter. After all these years, I'm hugely disappointed by the manager's disgusting attitude.

It was freezing outside, but the room stayed warm and was clean. I also really appreciated having the toilet separate from the bathroom. Still, both WiFis were practically unusable because they were so slow. I couldn't play some films on the TV through OnePlay, and I didn't know the Parental Castle password. I didn't want to make calls just to sort that out, so I used my O2 phone connection to hotspot my tablet instead. My overall stay was good. I came to Břeclav for the beer from Frankies brewery and didn't like it, though that's hardly the accommodation's fault. Best regards, Vašek from Prague

We arrived without booking, called the number on the door, and the owner came over within five minutes. She was very nice, the room was clean, and breakfast was generous. I recommend it.

The smaller rooms are clean, fully equipped, and have their own air conditioning. The owner and staff create a very friendly atmosphere, and there's a self-service bar when staff aren't around. It's in a great spot in a quiet part of Břeclav by the river. I'd definitely recommend it.
