eFi Palace Hotel

The courtyard hotel area itself has plenty of places to relax and do sports. The basement restaurant served a nice, cosy complete breakfast. The accommodation was spotless and had plenty of amenities, including a washing machine, suitable for a night or two. The receptionist was efficient and explained everything right away. The Wi-Fi kept faltering when I tried to watch TV news. I’d also advise taking a taxi into the center at night instead of walking around the hotel area, which felt gloomy, with questionable types of men hanging around on the streets.

So far, it’s been a pretty good experience with good service and no serious problems. It’s a bit pricey, and although the city center is very close, the location feels a little unpleasant. Some staff speak decent English. There can be noise some nights, mostly due to the area and other guests rather than the hotel itself. People smoke on balconies and the smell drifts into apartments; sometimes someone has the TV on loudly late at night, or people outside hold parties with karaoke singers of questionable skill. That’s about the extent of the inconveniences.

The service was great, the rooms are clean and quiet, and the location is good. The price seems fair for what you get, though the beds could be a bit more comfortable. If you’ve driven to Brno and plan to use street parking, check which zone you’re in and download the parking app. The fee isn’t expensive and my car was safe. The hotel’s own parking lot costs €15 a day, which isn’t cheap if you’re on a budget.

The guests arrived at night in a foreign city and were left with nowhere to stay. After confirming the booking, the property had only a security guard on site, and he knew nothing. I called the contact number and spoke with a woman who turned out to work at the hotel. She demanded payment on arrival, and the guests were willing to pay, but the guard wouldn’t take the money. The woman seemed to be in another building and began telling me what to say to the guard. I made clear that handling their internal coordination was not my responsibility. The guest should simply get the service they booked. Instead, the guard told them they needed a “different hotel.” Completely unacceptable, and I don’t recommend this hotel.
