Hotel Rakovec

The outside looks old and rather uninviting, but it’s a different story once you get in. The rooms are comfortable, a little basic, and functional, and the staff are friendly. My favorite part was the spa, where you can privately hire the jacuzzi, sauna, and pool with champagne. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food is decent and it stays open late if you want to drink into the night. I’d happily stay again.

Room A3 was new and had a lovely view. A missing shower curtain and unlabeled keys were minor annoyances, but the midnight fireworks and the very limited breakfast were a letdown. There wasn’t much choice or quality, and the coffee machine was broken. It’s a beautiful, fun place, and I hope they improve those things.

I waited ten minutes and nobody came over to take my order or even ask what I wanted. When I went inside to get a menu, I was told it was already on my table, but it wasn’t. I went back to show the unpleasant woman that only the drinks menu was there, and she got upset. After another twenty minutes, I left without anyone checking whether I wanted to order. A nightmare. They need to learn some basic kindness and how to work in a restaurant.

We stopped for lunch, but the waitress seemed uninterested and even looked bored when we asked for a menu. It was a really disappointing experience in Czechia, and I wouldn’t recommend the place to anyone.
