I’ve stayed at Pension Expo Living three times now, and the staff at reception are wonderful if anything needs sorting out. When the heating failed on New Year’s Day, a maintenance technician fixed it within an hour. The area feels safe and is fairly close to the centre. It’s about a 30-minute walk to Freedom Square, or you can take the tram. The Albert supermarket, Brno brewery, and a pharmacy are all a 5-10 minute walk away, with coffee and pastry shops by the tram stop. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with good @ access, a decent-sized smart TV, an ensuite bathroom that looks new, and nicely designed furniture and bedding. Some rooms face the main street, while others overlook a leafy courtyard. I’d pick one of the courtyard rooms. There’s also a shared mini kitchen with coffee and tea-making equipment. Excellent value for money, and the staff are lovely.
We spent four days in Brno with our family and dog, and were very happy with our stay at Penzion Expo living. Room nr. 8 was large enough for all of us, clean, and charmingly decorated. It faced the inner courtyard on both sides, which made it very quiet. With temperatures over 30 Celsius, we also loved that the tree-filled courtyard kept the room shaded all day. There was a coffee machine, kettle, coffee, tea, and fresh lemon water in the lobby, so we could get a refreshment whenever we wanted. We like walking and usually walked to the centre, which took 25-30 minutes. A tram or bus near the accommodation is there if you’d rather not walk. The staff were great to communicate with and gave us all the information we needed.
This is about BOUTIQUE Expo Apartments Brno. What was listed as an apartment turned out to be a room in a flat. The booking page mentioned a shared kitchen but said nothing about a shared bathroom. I felt like I was staying in a hostel dorm. I always search with the private bathroom option selected, and this place came up. If the bathroom arrangement had been clearly stated, I would never have booked it. When I raised the issue, the staff argued that they couldn’t add that information to the booking page and that I should suggest changes to booking instead of offering support. This left me with a terrible impression of my stay in Brno and of Czech people. Don’t go there. People shouldn’t make money by deceiving guests.
We had a really bad stay. We woke to ants crawling across the room, coming through a hole in the carpet between the wall and floor. We’d brought a small bag of KFC fries because we had an early start the next day and wanted something to eat before leaving. There was no fridge in the room, so we thought food that would last overnight was a sensible choice. Instead, we found ants. It was nasty and unhygienic. We contacted Expo Living and were told we shouldn’t have brought food into the room, even though there were no house rules against it. Nobody had warned us that food might bring ants. When you visit a new city, bringing some food back to your room is part of trying what locals eat. Check-in and checkout were all online, so there was nobody physically there to discuss our problems. The coffee machine was broken, too. The towels were clean, or at least smelled clean. We didn’t turn on the TV. The beds were a bit old, and the mattresses felt worn out. The door looked as if someone had tried to break in at some point. Our room was on the ground floor, and the window covers didn’t work very well. With the window open because there was no air-conditioning, people passing on the street could hear us and even see us. We haven’t had such a bad experience in a long time. Ants, no fridge, poor window covers, a broken coffee machine, and no staff on site. We chose Expo Living after reading its pretty good reviews, but for us the stay was very unfortunate.
I’ve stayed here many times. Check-in without contact has always gone smoothly, and the staff are lovely and professional. The accommodation is quiet and well located, with tea and coffee in the shared area.
