Ruta 80 Hostel

I didn’t feel safe here as a woman. The manager was rude and hostile, and he left at night, leaving the hostel unattended so anyone could come in. I don’t recommend staying here. Please take this warning seriously if you’re considering the place. The manager was aggressive toward me, and I don’t want another woman to go through the same thing.

The host spoke English really well, which stood out after three weeks of backpacking around Czechia, where that wasn’t common at hotels and hostels. The place was clean, the facilities worked as they should, and you get what you pay for. The host was very nice.

I never stayed at this hostel myself, but I visited and spoke with the manager/owner because a guy I met in Brno stayed there before eventually moving into my apartment. The manager was kind, polite, funny, and understanding. When my buddy canceled, he even offered to refund some of the money. The room was a standard hostel room, without luxuries, but it had everything my buddy needed for a trouble-free stay.

I spent two weeks at Ruta80 and felt at home there. The other guests were nice, and I never had a disappointing experience. The place is small and cozy, with a design the owner came up with himself. At first I expected something unusual because it seemed aimed at a particular crowd, but everything was in order. The room was small but adequate, the beds were comfortable, and the lockboxes were roomy enough. Curtains would have been a useful addition, though the room was okay without them. A nice woman cleaned it every day and did a good job. The kitchen was very clean and had plenty of equipment for cooking. I made lots of meals and was happy with how it went. The bathroom and toilet were clean too, the shower always had hot water, and the washing machine worked. It took a bit of effort to find the place. I can’t say much about the location beyond that it’s near the infamous Cejl street. Still, nobody approached or disrespected me or asked me for money. If you’d rather avoid that area, you can take the street above. The receptionist was genuine and helpful, and the owner was friendly, reasonable, and a real gentleman.
