Hotel Fontána

The location is lovely, and the rooms are fine with pretty good service. The food was the letdown. There are no lifts, and the hotel is spread across three levels. Czechia's 0% blood alcohol limit means you can really only drink at the hotel, since public transport is very limited. Exchanging euros can also be an issue: the hotel gives a fair rate, but some locals may add 25%-30%, so exchanging 100k could cost you 5 euros.

The lake views are the one real positive here. The rest was worrying. Breakfast had a shockingly small selection, and we often had to ask for fruit and vegetables. At 9am there weren't even any sausages. We also had to request room cleaning, since it wasn't done as standard during our stay. Without asking, I suppose we'd have needed to request more toilet paper too. The room had no fridge or hair dryer, and the beds were very hard. If you want to relive a university dorm, come for the lovely views.

The free parking has plenty of shade, and the staff speak English well enough. The grounds are pleasant too, with a lovely lake view from the second floor. Unfortunately, the place feels dated. The spacious rooms seem cold because there's too much space for the amount and type of furniture. Breakfast supplies are limited, so you can ask for more, and it may be worth getting there early when it's busy. The beach is by the lake, but the winding roads make it take a while to reach.

The dam view from this unique location is the standout. The rooms are great, service excellent, and the food delicious.
