There isn’t much to praise beyond the layout and the atmosphere of the place. The hostel is in a historic part of town and covers the basics, which is all you’d expect at this price level. The condition and cleaning were a real problem during our six-day stay. The room walls left us covered in chalk whenever we touched them. The bins were never emptied, shared areas weren’t cleaned, wipes weren’t replaced, and a heap of used linen and towels from earlier guests was left lying around. We also went three days without toilet paper. We couldn’t even eat together, one adult and two children, because there wasn’t a spoon. When I asked, they promised one the next day, and we’re still waiting. Getting help was difficult too. Staff were often nowhere to be found at reception, and we usually had to track someone down through the restaurant. Whoever we found was unhelpful, and no one spoke English well enough to communicate properly. The entrance door was often left open, so anyone could come in, use the toilet, or take food from the kitchen fridge. There were also charges that felt like attempts to overcharge us, including recreation tax for children, and we got no invoice or official registration.

The staff were extremely nice, and the restaurant is fantastic. It’s a huge hostel, though, and the place feels very worn and lived in. It was clean, but definitely not spotless. We had two beds in a dorm plus a private apartment across the street, and it got really loud at night.

The shared kitchen and board games were great, and there’s a nice restaurant and bar connected to the hostel. It had a fantastic atmosphere, and the beds were comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly too. Hostel 99 is in a perfect spot, and I really enjoyed my time here. Best hostel in town, 100% recommended.

We were glad our room was on the ground floor, so we didn’t have to deal with the steep stairs. The room was fine, with a lovely view of the little creek, and the toilets and showers were fine as well. Having a restaurant so close was great. The kitchen is a little small, but usable. The location worked well for our one-day visit by car. We parked at P2, just a short walk away, and the hostel is also a short walk from the town center.

The staff are an awesome crew, the dorms are clean, and the place has loads of charm. There’s a great restaurant attached, too. I’ve stayed here several times, and it’s one of my favorite hostels ever. Krumlov has a way of keeping me happily stuck here.
