Vila Vyšehrad

I rarely give an establishment one star, but this experience really deserved it. Just before we left, two employees stopped us and demanded CZK 5.000, saying we had broken a mattress. I was confused by the accusation, so I went upstairs with a different employee to inspect the bed they meant. There was a small sunken spot at the bottom of the mattress, where my four-year-old had slept. He slept on the upper side. We had arrived very late the night before, washed up, and gone straight to bed. He weighs 17 kg, and I don’t see how he could have broken an adult-sized mattress. There was also a thick mattress topper covering the sunken area, so who knows if the mattress was already damaged before we arrived. When we refused to pay, they accused my son of jumping on the bed. That didn’t happen. If he had caused the damage by jumping, I’d expect more than one small sunken spot. In the end they took €50 from us and let us leave. I honestly felt scammed. Please look into this. Check the picture and decide for yourself who the culprit is. Update to reply: We arrived at vila vysehrad around 3 pm. Nobody was there to welcome us, and we were sent instructions by text or email to collect the key from a key box. We left our luggage in the room and went to explore the city. We got back around 8 pm after dinner and a light stroll, and still hadn’t met any hotel staff. I can see how they might easily lose track of when guests come and go. Maybe being understaffed also contributed to them accusing us of something we didn’t do. All in all, I don’t recommend staying here. There are better hotels in Cesky if you want to avoid unnecessary drama on your trip.
