The Knights Room was downstairs, but we could hear people moving around above us through the ceiling. Both mattresses were thin and worn down in the middle, and the bed frame squeaked so much that even a small movement from my husband woke me. The firm mattress and thin pillows and blankets may suit someone else, but there were no extras available. The room was large, clean, and warm, and the staff took good care of us. The location was quiet while still close to the city center, and staff answered questions quickly and helpfully. Breakfast was easy and plentiful, though the food wasn't to our taste, so I wouldn't pay for the breakfast add-on again. There was just one bottle of combined shampoo and body wash per person. It felt like we were paying for the experience of sleeping in a tower more than for a good night's sleep or a well-equipped room. We left feeling we'd overpaid after a poor night, though I agree the place has a lot of potential.

The Archivist Suite had plenty of space for three adults and two kids, and getting in and out with the self check-in was easy. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast arrived in a little basket. The restored building has a one of a kind location, with a lot of care put into the details. It's convenient for all the sights, and parking is close by.

The host's service went beyond what I expected, and the breakfast really completed the medieval officer feeling. There's a guidebook with nearby activities and a bit of the place's history, which I think every hotel or apartment should provide. You're about a five-minute walk from the major sights, and there's a place across the street to enjoy a beer. Don't bring too much luggage, and stay a few days. You're doing great, keep it running!

The bed made this a miserable stay for me. The mattress was worn and too thin, and some of the bed slats were broken. It was the most uncomfortable sleep I've had. For the price, I expected them to invest in proper beds. The bathroom looked nice and kept much of the original stone, but it was damp enough that it may not suit someone with respiratory issues. The vintage and antique furniture was interesting, apart from the bed. When I called because the room was too cold, staff brought a heating controller within two minutes, which was helpful. There's no reception on site: you get a safe code for a key, and if you need anything you have to call. The phone number isn't in the website or confirmation email, though it's on the plaque at the main entrance. The location is superb, parking is nearby, and the accommodation is unique for anyone into history or architecture. Still, I didn't think it was worth the money. I'd rather visit a castle around here and stay in a traditional hotel. I might consider coming back in summer if the bed were fixed, but not in winter.
