Penzion Betlém

The rooms are nice, though they weren't properly clean and the walls were dirty rather than white. I was dissatisfied after a misunderstanding: the booking website didn't say pets weren't allowed, so I had to change the reservation from three people to two while one person found somewhere else to stay with our pet. The accommodation itself is still very nice. The service was disorganized and very unfriendly, with little helpfulness. Staff should treat guests with more respect.

The guesthouse's retro decor fits the folk architecture beautifully, and the breakfasts were delicious, with a good range: crispy bacon, eggs, parks, several kinds of sausages, cheeses, yogurts, cereals, something sweet, and fresh pastries. It's in the center of a conservation area, with lovely surroundings and an easy walk to shops and restaurants in the city center. Nearby places to visit include Peklo čertovina and Veselý kopec. I highly recommend it 🙂

Breakfast was excellent, with fresh food and plenty of choice at the buffet. The owners were kind and pleasant, and the rooms in the beautiful log cabin were cozy and clean. Nearby, U Tvrze is an excellent restaurant where the food is great and they know how to pour a proper beer. Highly recommended.

The stay had some good points, including lovely accommodation and great service, but the other experiences unfortunately overshadowed them. After breakfast, the owner had the common room locked and insisted on charging 2,000 Kč for an evening's use. So all eight of us spent our evenings squeezed into a tiny room, and we spent New Year's Eve in the hallway. The heating was turned down on the first night, and they only turned it up after we explicitly asked. In the 20 years we've been taking trips together like this, we've never experienced anything similar.
