Boutique Hotel Romanza

Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food, and we also appreciated that massage was available. The apartments were spacious and nicely equipped, with comfortable beds and a balcony, and there was room for our family. The location was very good, about a five-minute walk from the centre. Access was barrier-free almost everywhere, which worked well with a stroller. It was clean when we arrived, but housekeeping during the stay was confusing and incomplete. Only a few beds were made, and the bathroom, especially the floor, hadn't been swept well. It felt as if some jobs were done and others left unfinished, and even the work that was done wasn't always proper. The manager should review this and talk with the staff. That was the only disappointing part of our stay.

I stayed at this hotel three times, each visit lasting a month, but it got dirtier year by year as maintenance seemed to be neglected. The spa treatments became much more expensive, while the service quality dropped a lot. The hotel now seems geared toward German pensioners, and guests staying in just a few rooms don't get the same service they do. At times, every restaurant table was reserved, so we couldn't find anywhere to eat. The menu has barely changed over the years and is quite limited. The rooms were only moderately clean. I even found the same dirty spot in the bathroom that I'd seen three years earlier. Never again.

We were very satisfied and would come back. The apartment had a large bedroom with a very comfortable bed and pillows, plus a spacious living room with another bed that could suit a visitor or a snoring partner 😂. The bathroom was excellent, and the electric heating came in handy after we got caught in the rain. There was nice furniture, a balcony, and an outdoor garden right next to the apartment. The kitchen was good too, though I missed having tea and coffee sachets. There was a kettle, but no sachets provided. The price was great, and the location made it easy to get around: the centre was five minutes from the front door, and the Singing Fountain about 10-15 minutes away. We didn't try the spa or wellness treatments, since we're more the exploring type 🙄😅😂. Breakfast was included as a buffet in the hotel's restaurant, served from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. Between 7:30 and 8:30 seemed the best time to get a table. When we came down after 9, it was full and we had to sit outside. Maybe it was just a busy weekend; the next day we arrived at exactly 9:00 and it was fine. For evening or late-night walks, the main entrance wasn't an issue because the guest key card opened both the front door and our room.

We had a romance weekend package, and even though our train was delayed, the staff kept the kitchen open so we could still have an excellent dinner. The romantic meal was lovely, and our room was clean and nicely furnished. Staff were helpful and friendly, including while dealing with some fairly unpleasant guests who were staying there at the same time. The spa treatment consisted of a vigorous bath and a massage, and both left us relaxed and energized. Use of the sister hotel's pool was included, though it meant a 10-minute walk. I'm sure Marianske Lazne has other ways to spend a superior weekend, but for what we paid this felt first class.
