Hotel Panon

The location is great, with a Shell station about a minute away on foot and the nearest market roughly seven minutes away. There's parking right in front of the hotel. The rooms are okay and actually quite spacious.

The staff are quite nice and try hard, and I have no regrets about staying, though my expectations were low. It's an economy choice for EU pensioners on holiday and seems popular with bus tours. The breakfast buffet lacks many standard items, including fruit. The property is old and badly needs refreshing, with Brezhnev-era furnishings and no air conditioning. Still, it's a value-priced option.

For the price, much of it was about what I expected, but I was still a little disappointed. The atmosphere was nothing like the pictures. The place sits behind other buildings, reached by a dark, narrow 'street'. In the early evening, the front desk lady said she was alone and couldn't send anyone to check the phone, so we had to go downstairs whenever we had a question. In the room, we had to run very cold water for 3 to 5 minutes before it warmed up, and the shower fixtures were very outdated and nasty. We paid an extra 10 euro for breakfast but skipped it because the dining area wasn't appealing. My rating reflects what I expected for the price and quality.

The vegetarian options were awful. They served pasta with a ton of ketchup as a vegetarian dinner, and the ladies said vegetarian soup meant meat broth with a ton of fat. At reception, the lady didn't even look up when we came in. Staying at this 'hotel' is a joke. I really don't recommend it.
