Penzion Šejby

The new restaurant looks great, and the whole place seems like a lovely spot for a vacation.

Penzion Šejby is a welcoming, cozy guesthouse in a picturesque spot. It seems well suited to tourists, cyclists, and families looking for a quiet break, with comfortable rooms, good food, and a friendly atmosphere for either a short stop or a longer stay. Mrs. Pavlína was incredibly kind when we arrived after a long ride in the rain. She found out our sleeping bags were wet and brought us warm blankets, even though we weren’t staying there. She also let us dry everything by the fireplace in the restaurant. The next day, she gave us a generous breakfast that set us up for the rest of our adventures. The guesthouse owner helped too. Although the place was full, he found us emergency shelter beneath the covered outdoor garden of the pub opposite. In the storm, that really saved us. Their quick help and kindness showed what a big-hearted team they are, going well beyond ordinary service.

The room was furnished to a high standard apart from the mattress and the “slatted frame.” The beds were very hard, with thin mattresses and boards in place of slats, and about 20 flies kept us from sleeping. After check-in, nobody was available to move us to another room. The poor sleep spoiled the next day, and the breakfast on offer wasn’t appealing. On arrival, we saw a group of deer, which was a lovely bit of nature. The house is beautifully built, and the solid wooden staircase doesn’t creak when you walk on it. That almost impressed me.

The breakfast was delicious, the service excellent, and the rooms spacious. A pleasant setting too. Everything was perfect.
