A peaceful, pleasant location, and the food was just like grandma’s :)

Everything’s clean, and the landlady is great. She cooks wonderfully, too. I can’t think of anything negative to say.

The place itself is lovely, the food is good, and the owner keeps things clean. Still, I don’t think guests need to be reminded several times that they must change their shoes. Booking through Booking.com makes the stay a little more expensive, and we were charged local taxes on the spot even though they were supposedly included in the price. Small children apparently aren’t accommodated, probably to keep things quiet. That’s a shame, since our own peace was disturbed by bikers who stayed two nights in a row and had clearly had plenty of beer and liquor.

The food was good and honestly prepared, both breakfast and dinner, and the basic amenities in the room were there. Everything was clean, the owners were fairly helpful, and the surroundings are lovely. It’s outside the main centers around Kvild, Modrava and Borové ladé, but those are 10-20 minutes away by car. The nature here is beautiful and quieter, and you can set off on trips from here too. Despite being by the road, the guesthouse isn’t noisy or busy. The room had only the bare minimum of furniture, and the bed headboards are shelves, so there’s nowhere to lean when reading or watching TV. There were a few other signs of penny pinching: a liquorice shelf on the shower wall came loose when my partner turned it at the hinge, and the shower gel that fell from it hurt their leg. The Wi-Fi was switched off at night(!), and guests had to change their shoes even in the corridors. Prices are definitely above average for similar accommodation. One personal note: I may simply not have clicked with the owner. It’s hard to explain, and I haven’t had this slightly odd feeling elsewhere, including a sense of smugness and of being constantly watched to see what was happening in the guesthouse and with the guests. That’s just my subjective impression, though; someone else might see it differently. It didn’t affect the quality of the accommodation or food. We were also disappointed that the owners didn’t bake buns, cakes or anything similar during our multi-day stay, as previous reviews had made it sound like they did so fairly often. We may just have picked the wrong dates, of course, and baking is their goodwill, not an obligation. Still, it was one reason we chose this particular place. The dinner menu was a bit repetitive, although I understand two staff members can’t work miracles. The food itself was good and honestly prepared.
