The food was a pleasant surprise, home-cooked and made with care, at very reasonable prices for what you get. The location may not suit everyone, especially anyone looking for busier surroundings, but the guesthouse itself is worth visiting and supporting. You can feel the work and heart that have gone into it. I stayed at Hákův mlýn, and the place has a magical feel, somewhere between a fairy tale and old times. There was peace and a sense of mystery everywhere 🥰. The owners take wonderful care of guests. The owner is kind and clearly cares deeply, and I really appreciated how willing and attentive she was. The whole stay felt friendly and homely, like visiting good friends. Thanks for a lovely stay, and I wish the owners and staff all the best.

We came for dinner, and the meal and service put us off returning. It took about 25 minutes for the soup to arrive, almost together with the main course. The garlic soup was basically hot water with a little broth, garlic, fried bread and cheese, and the home fries were just regular frozen fries poured from a bag. The server couldn't keep up, the “Mr.” owner was struggling in the kitchen, and there was a problem with payment. We were already discouraged on arrival. We sat inside the pub because it was cold outside in August 🙄, but the “Mr.” owner told us service was only outside and asked if we hadn't read the sign on the bar, “Service in the yard.” That wording could be understood two ways 😔. We'll go somewhere else next time. It was a different level under the previous owner.

I never expected food this good in such an unassuming, out-of-the-way spot. I wasn't staying there, but came for dinner three times and ordered the same meal each time because I couldn't resist :) The service was lovely and friendly, and the garden was a cozy, relaxing place to sit.
