One thing we didn't know when booking was that the special restaurant on the ground floor is no longer there. The room was well-equipped and much more spacious than expected, with much of its historic character preserved. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The constant ventilation noise was a nuisance, and the bathroom could be more separate from the room since sounds carry so easily.

Stepan Janacek at the front desk was the standout for me: attentive, helpful, and clearly committed to the place. I hope a good hotel, maybe the Grand Hotel next door, gives him a chance. I'd try that one next time. The restaurant was a real letdown. Service was inattentive, even by Czech standards, and the food was only average, made by a slovenly cook. The space itself is beautiful and could be packed every night with better food and service. Such a shame. The rooms were clean and nice enough, and the central location suited what my friend and I wanted to see. But little comforts were missing: no soap or face cloths, and charging outlets only on one side of the beds. The big window over the bathroom also lights up the bed if you get up to pee at night, though a night light in the bathroom could solve that. I think my friend recommended it mainly because of how central it is, but the hotel didn't really measure up.

Everything I needed was here, including on-site private parking. The service was great, and the location was perfect. Amazing hotel.

The old building has a charm and atmosphere I really like. It's not especially modern or up to date, though.
