Penzion Pupendo

The owner really stood out to me, such a lovely person who makes sure guests have excellent conditions. The rooms are spacious and clean, with towels and a shower. It's easy to get into the city centre, and there are shopping centres nearby. The bus and train stations are about 10 minutes away. I recommend Pipendo Pension to everyone.

The receptionist is a very nice man, and I have to say in the owner's defense that I never raised the problems with the dirt and mess. I didn't have time to find another place, so sorting it out would have meant leaving the accommodation. My first stay was fine apart from a few small things that didn't spoil it. The second was much worse. There was hair on the pillow, a dirty sofa with stains from who knows what, and dust, cobwebs, and rubbish under the bed, including a bottle and a wrapper. The carpet and chairs were dirty and neglected, a light bulb was missing, and the shower holder was torn. The shower cubicle was moldy and wouldn't seal. The bathroom blinds were missing, though I told myself no one could see in, or at least who would be looking at me :-)) The whole house smelled of cigarettes, and the smell came into the room even with the door closed. The ashtray is inside the house in the passage. We've stayed more cheaply in Hradec, and for more money too, but I've never seen anything like this elsewhere.

I feel safe here even when I'm on my own, and I know I can count on the guesthouse, so I look forward to returning every year. I've been coming since 2016, always during the RFP period, and wouldn't choose anywhere else. I only use the room to shower and sleep, so I don't spend time looking for faults. If there are any, I think they're small details that don't spoil the stay. I've never found dust or cobwebs, though maybe it depends on the room. The water is always hot, towels are provided, and the bathroom and toilet are clean. The owner is kind, the price is good, and so is the location.

For a short stay, this is a modest option for people who don't need much. The room was spacious and quiet, with a TV and a comfortable bed, and the staff were helpful and friendly. There's a chip card for entry. The bus terminal and train station are nearby, while the city centre is about a 20-minute walk. Shops line the street, with Tesco close by. The shower and toilet were very nice, clean, and smelled fresh. Some things were annoying: there's no elevator, no shelf for soap or shampoo in the shower, no shower holder, and not a single hook in the bathroom. The room carpet was dirty, and the only dishes were two glasses on the table. For me, the price, quality, and satisfaction all balance out well. Recommended!
