If you like an early-90s look, you’ll probably enjoy this well-kept hotel. It’s in the city centre, with good views, and the breakfast buffet runs from 7 am with lots of hot and cold choices. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, offering tips and useful information and going out of their way for us. Our room was spacious enough and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was old but clean. There was a phone, a TV with plenty of channels, and fast, stable internet.

It was horrible. My brother booked and paid for the room through booking, but when I arrived, she wouldn't let me check in because the English name on my account didn't match my ID. She threatened to call the police, and I couldn't understand her. She kicked me out and didn't refund me. She called me something like "pico" or "pičo" because I'm a foreigner and can't speak her language. I felt she was racist, and that they tried to cheat me.

Last month I checked in with a friend and had too much stuff to carry upstairs in one go. I asked if my friend could help bring it up, but the receptionist wouldn’t let them come upstairs with me. Awful.

The room was very clean, and the view from the top floor was great. The people at the desk were extremely helpful, and we could manage basic communication in German. The hotel is right in the center and has a socialist-era interior, which I thought was very cool. If you’re after bright, flashy decor, look elsewhere. But if nostalgic rooms and a few dated features appeal to you, it’s worth checking out. I paid 28 for a single room in Aug 2017, and it was cheap.
