I had my first radon treatment at Hotel Behounek from March 12 to April 2025, after a friend from Czech Republic recommended it. I'm from Toronto, Canada, and my right knee was at the bone-on-bone stage. X-rays showed it was at the point of needing replacement surgery, but I wanted to look at alternatives. Dr. Marcela Maršíková prescribed radon baths and other therapy sessions. It's been almost a year since then. My knee feels more stable and hasn't gotten worse. I've been walking more steadily and haven't been afraid to increase my movement and exercise routine over the past year. I'm following a necessary exercise regime. I still can't wear heels, run, or lift heavy things, but that's okay! The accommodation was very comfortable. Food was an issue because I'm vegetarian and there weren't many choices. I speak only English, which most spa workers didn't speak or understand, but I got by with single words, hand gestures, and translations from other guests I met there. I think I was their first Canadian and fourth-generation Trinidadian guest of Indian descent. Trinidad is the Caribbean island where I was born. Looking forward to visiting again, maybe late 2026 or early 2027.

The views over the Ore Mountains from the hillside were lovely, and I enjoyed walking to the Church of St. Joachim and exploring the beautiful nearby trails. Ski slopes close to the hotel should appeal to winter visitors. Jáchymov is a great spot for anyone who likes the outdoors. At Hotel Běhounek, the spa was the highlight. I tried the radon baths, a local Jáchymov specialty, and the therapists were skilled. Treatments cost less than I expected compared with places I've used elsewhere. The rehabilitation pool and sauna were nice extras, though I had to plan around when they were available. It's a 3-star hotel with a few quirks, but I found it relaxing and charming, with family-oriented amenities and scenic surroundings. A solid, good-value choice for a spa break in the mountains.

I really enjoyed the view, and the breakfast was nice. The employees were super friendly and helpful. I stayed in the pension, which is part of the hotel and linked by a long corridor with stairs, so it isn't senior-friendly. They have music parties at night. Wifi worked well everywhere.
