Penzion U Lucerny

There’s no breakfast, and you should know that the bar terrace is right below the window. They do close before midnight, though, so it may not be a great fit for families with children. The location in the historical centre is excellent, with everything close by. Parking is 200m away, around the corner by a church, which is normal in a town centre where cars aren’t allowed. The hotel itself was nice and clean.

There’s no reception, but everything worked properly during our one-night stay. For service, you need to go to the lower restaurant with the same name, though it has a different owner. The restaurant only opens later, so there’s no breakfast there. Several guesthouses and cafes nearby are happy to provide excellent breakfasts.

The service was nice, though we didn’t eat at the restaurant. Breakfast isn’t included, but you can get it at another facility or use the kitchenette in the room. The photos make the room look romantic, but stains on the walls spoil that impression, and the mattress was very soft. With all the phones and electronics people use these days, having an extension cord in the middle of the double bed was disappointing. About 150 CZK would have been enough to make things much more comfortable.

The beds were really great, and the room was adequate. It’s a beautiful, clean and quiet guesthouse in the center of Jindřichův Hradec, with the castle, pond and shops all a short distance away.
