The apartment's size really surprised me, and it felt luxurious, with a large kitchen stocked with everything. It was spotless, and the staff were polite. I know only a few Czech words, but we managed to communicate in English. The place sits on a lovely town square. Getting in late was the tricky part: there was no separate entrance, so we had to go through the bar, which is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. We were at a wedding and couldn't say when we'd be back. I told the woman at the bar, and she kindly explained that we could call a number and someone would let us in. After a couple of calls, someone did come and open the bar for us. We were satisfied with our stay.

We ended up paying twice as much for another place, and as strangers in the area, finding somewhere in the middle of the night was really difficult. I was deeply saddened by the way we were treated, and I'd never had anything like this happen to me before. We'd told the host we'd be a little late and asked if he could wait or leave the keys somewhere for us. He said that wasn't possible and told us to stay somewhere else. We even offered to meet him somewhere convenient to collect the keys, but got no response to our messages. When we arrived at the apartment, people were working in the bar, yet they shut the door in our faces. They could have kept the keys and handed them to us. We were left without a room and out on the street.

The apartment is luxurious, with free Wi-Fi and a kitchen equipped for anyone who likes to cook. You'll need to buy your own groceries, though, and there isn't housekeeping. The blonde girl who works there was rude and disrespectful.

Right beside the castle and a big green park, this quiet hotel sits above a bar on a lovely square in the historic centre of Karviná. I hope to stay here again.
